Demon Slayer Coloring Pages

Most of Demon Slayer happens at night and at full speed, but the moments fans remember are often the quiet ones: a brother carrying his sister home, three friends sharing a meal, someone asleep after a long day. These Demon Slayer coloring pages lean toward those moments, with big characters and clear outlines that are easy to color.

Tanjiro stands in his checkered haori in a snowy forest, carries Nezuko on his back along a mountain path, rests against a giant cedar with his sword across his lap, and gets a big portrait of his own, scar and earrings included. Nezuko sleeps inside her wooden box, reaches for fireflies in a meadow and runs across the village rooftops under a crescent moon. Zenitsu hides behind a tree with his hands over his ears, climbs the stone steps to a shrine, splashes water on his face at a shrine fountain, stands on a cliff at sunrise and falls asleep in his futon. Inosuke crouches on a tiled roof with his two swords, meets a big fluffy dog, and appears as a grinning chibi with his boar mask pushed up. Rengoku sits cross-legged in meditation, his sword beside him.

The story in a few lines

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) began as a manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2016 to 2020, and became an anime series from 2019. Tanjiro Kamado is a kind boy who sells charcoal in the mountains. When his family is attacked, only his sister Nezuko survives, turned into a demon who still remembers who she loves. Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to turn her back into a human, and carries her everywhere in a wooden box on his back, since she cannot stand the sun.

On the way he meets Zenitsu, who is scared of everything and brilliant when he least expects it, and Inosuke, who was raised in the mountains, wears a boar's head and challenges everyone. The strongest swordsmen of the Corps are called the Hashira; Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, is one of the most loved characters of the series.

Everyone's colors

The series is famous for its patterned clothes, and getting them right is half the fun:

• Tanjiro: a green and black checkered haori over the black Corps uniform, dark red hair and hanafuda earrings with a red sun.
• Nezuko: a pink kimono with a hexagon leaf pattern, a dark red haori, long black hair turning orange at the tips, and a bamboo muzzle.
• Zenitsu: bright yellow hair and an orange-yellow haori covered in white triangles.
• Inosuke: a gray-brown boar's head, bare chest and dark fur trousers.
• Rengoku: yellow hair with red tips, and a white cloak with flames along the bottom.

Colored pencils work well on the patterns: color the base first, then add the checks or triangles on top. Tanjiro's haori is a good place to practice patience.

Big faces and busy scenes

The simplest pages keep one character large with little around them, like the Tanjiro portrait and chibi Inosuke. Quick to color, above the grid, begins with:

The detailed ones fill the page with roof tiles, wisteria, stairs and forest. Lots of detail begins with:

Which pages for which age

Demon Slayer is a series for teens and adults, with fights that can be intense, but these pages keep to the gentle side: meals, naps, fireflies, walks and portraits. Younger fans who know the characters will enjoy the chibi and portrait pages; older fans will prefer the detailed scenes and the sword mandala, which is made for a long, calm evening.

Printing a mission

Every page is a free A4 PDF drawn at 300 dpi. A4 prints at full size, and on US Letter "fit to page" shrinks the drawing by about six percent so every sword stays on the paper.
