Hello Kitty Coloring Pages

Hello Kitty, the Sanrio character with the red bow

Hello Kitty was created in 1974 by the Japanese company Sanrio, designed by Yuko Shimizu. Her full name is Kitty White. In her official story she lives near London with her parents and her twin sister Mimmy, and her birthday is November 1.

The twins are told apart by their bows. Kitty wears a red bow on her left ear, Mimmy a yellow one on her right. Kitty has no drawn mouth, which is part of why her face is so easy to copy.

A few scenes nod to Japan, where she was born as a character: she folds an origami crane at a low table, and stands in a kimono in front of a torii gate under a cherry tree in bloom.

How to color Hello Kitty: white face, yellow nose, red bow

Her classic look needs very few colors:

• Face and body: white. Leave the paper bare and do not shade her gray.
• Nose: a small yellow oval.
• Bow: bright red, the one detail every fan checks.
• Overalls: blue, with a red or yellow shirt, when she wears them.

A white cat on white paper can disappear. Give the wall, the sky or the grass behind her a little more color than feels natural, and she stands out.

A short, soft palette

Kitty's world looks finished when the colors are few and gentle. Choose three or four and bring them back around the page, pink icing echoed by pink curtains in the bakery, the greenhouse green repeated on the bicycle. Keep a light hand on the pencil: soft shades come from pressing gently, and a second gentle layer deepens them without turning them loud.
