Sonic Coloring Pages

Sonic is drawn in motion or he is not drawn at all. The quills sweep back, the legs blur, the shoes point forward, and the background is a loop or a straight line vanishing behind him. That is the whole design brief, and it is why these sheets fill differently from a character standing still.

Who is in this set

• Sonic, in most of them: running, jumping a spring, tearing through a loop, thumbs up on a ramp, racing past cacti with rings in the air.
• Tails, alone with a ball, in the biplane, at the waterfall high-five and beside Sonic in the desert.
• Knuckles, smashing a boulder, running with his spiked fists out, and standing ready to fight.
• Amy Rose, waving, swinging her hammer and carrying it over her shoulder.
• Shadow, on four sheets, including one with Rouge the Bat, and they are the most detailed figures here.
• Super Sonic, quills swept up, surrounded by flames, sparkles or a peace sign.
• Metal Sonic, twice, all panels and joints, the hardest sheet in the drawer.
• Doctor Eggman, in his walking machine, in his flying pod, chasing Sonic off a cliff and out in the desert with his robots.
• A page of Chaos Emeralds and rings, which is the one for a child who wants to finish something in five minutes, and a jungle sheet with three little Chao.

Blue is one colour, the shoes are three

Sonic himself is quick: one blue, a tan muzzle and belly, two eyes. The interest is in the shoes, which are red with a white strap and a gold buckle, and in whatever is behind him. Shadow swaps the blue for black with red stripes, Super Sonic goes yellow, Metal Sonic is grey panels with a red core.

That short palette is why these sheets work with a small box of pencils, and why the background carries the page. The loops, the palm trees, the checkerboard ground and the floating rings are where the time goes.

Easy sheets and hard ones

The single figures on a plain background are the quick wins: Sonic with a thumbs up, Tails with his ball, the page of emeralds. Thick outlines, few areas, done in fifteen minutes.

Metal Sonic and the Eggman machines are the long ones. They are built from dozens of small panels, rivets and gears, and they suit someone who likes filling mechanical detail one shape at a time.
