Sonic Coloring Pages

Kids who want free Sonic coloring pages usually picture him first as a blue blur racing through a loop under palm trees, and that sheet is here. Sonic the Hedgehog runs, jumps springs and collects rings, and the whole cast comes along, from Tails and Knuckles to Shadow, Super Sonic and Doctor Eggman. The single poses are big and bold for a young fan, while the badnik battles and team lineups give an older one plenty to fill.

Who and what turns up, from Green Hill to Eggman's base:

Sonic the Hedgehog, from a 1991 game to the movies

Sonic the Hedgehog first ran onto screens on June 23, 1991, on the Sega Genesis. Sega wanted a mascot fast enough to rival Mario, and its team chose a blue hedgehog with swept-back quills. The developers then took the name Sonic Team.

The friends arrived game by game. Tails joined in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Amy Rose and Metal Sonic in Sonic CD, Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Shadow and Rouge in Sonic Adventure 2.

Today many kids meet Sonic through the movies. Sonic the Hedgehog came out in 2020, Sonic 2 in 2022, and Sonic 3 in December 2024, with Shadow voiced by Keanu Reeves. A fourth film has been announced. The drawings here follow the familiar game look, which fits movie Sonic too.

The loop with palm trees, the springs, the bee robots and the little wheeled robot all come from the classic Green Hill Zone, where fans call the robots Buzz Bombers and Motobugs. In the old games, every robot Sonic breaks sets free a small animal, which is why two critters sit at his feet on the ring page.

Sonic and Tails

Tails, the two-tailed fox, is Sonic's best friend and the team's pilot. They give a thumbs-up side by side, high-five in front of a waterfall, fly together in a biplane among the clouds, and stand in a desert under floating rings. Knuckles

Knuckles the Echidna guards the Master Emerald and hits hard. He runs with his spiked fists out, smashes a boulder in a spray of rock and gems, and stands with both fists raised. For Sonic and Knuckles together, the trio page with Tails shows all three smiling.

Amy Rose

Amy Rose carries her giant Piko Piko Hammer on every page: resting on her shoulder as she waves among rings, held over her shoulder with both hands, and swung at her side with one fist raised.

The big team page gathers Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Shadow with fists raised, a good one to color with friends.

Shadow and Sonic coloring pages

Shadow the Hedgehog looks like Sonic's dark twin, and that rivalry is a big reason fans search for the two together. He stands with fists clenched and with a hand on his hip, quills swept upward and rings on his hover shoes.

In the air, he flies beside Rouge the Bat, wings spread, in one of the busier sheets. Bat fans will find more wings in the bat coloring pages.

Shadow's colors, so he never ends up gray:

• Fur: black, with red stripes on the quills, arms and legs.
• Chest: a small white tuft.
• Eyes: red.
• Shoes: white and red, with gold rings at the wrists and ankles.

Super Sonic and the seven Chaos Emeralds

Collect all seven Chaos Emeralds and Sonic becomes Super Sonic: golden fur, quills swept up, red eyes. He appears surrounded by flames, jumping with a peace sign among stars and clouds, and giving a thumbs-up.

Other sheets show the emeralds themselves, cut stones of different sizes floating among rings, and Sonic in a palm grove holding one while three Chao gather around another. Give each emerald its own color (green, blue, red, yellow, purple, cyan, and white or pale gray) and leave a white spark on every facet. The diamond coloring pages have more gems to shade.

Some fans color a Super Sonic page in deep navy with a dark aura to make Dark Sonic, the form seen in the Sonic X anime.

Doctor Eggman and Metal Sonic coloring pages

Doctor Eggman, also known as Robotnik, is the round scientist behind every robot. He leans out of his flying pod, sits with his arms crossed in a walking machine with claw arms and gears, chases Sonic along a cliff edge, and raises his fists in a canyon with a flying bee robot overhead. In another scene, Sonic jumps over three bee robots and a wheeled one on a grassy ledge. Metal Sonic, Eggman's robot copy of Sonic, stands with clawed hands spread and head on with his arms down, every panel and joint drawn. Color him dark blue with silver joints and red eyes, and the engine port on his chest in yellow or orange.

• Sonic: bright cobalt blue, a peach muzzle, arms and belly, green eyes, white gloves and red shoes with a white strap and gold buckle.
• Tails: yellow-orange, with a white muzzle, chest and tail tips.

• Amy Rose: pink, with a red dress and headband and red and white boots.
• Eggman: red jacket, black pants, big brown mustache and goggles on his head.

One trick for a speedy look: draw three or four short lines behind running Sonic in pale blue. The page seems to move.

Sonic sheets for young racers and devoted fans

A four-year-old can manage Sonic racing at full speed, the loop or Super Sonic's thumbs-up, where one figure fills the page. Quick to color brings forward the pages built on a single running or posing hero:
