Copyright and takedown requests

If something here uses your work and should not, write to us and it comes down. This page says exactly what to send and what happens next.

Every drawing in the catalogue is composed for this site. Even so, a catalogue that grows every day cannot promise that nothing in it will ever touch someone else’s rights. When it does, we would rather hear from you than from your lawyer, and the procedure below is written to make that easy.

Characters and brands

Some sheets are drawn around characters that belong to somebody else. Those names, characters and logos remain the property of their owners, who have not endorsed this site and are not connected to it. Our usage license covers our own drawing work and nothing more: we cannot grant rights we do not hold. Anyone printing a sheet like that is doing so for personal, classroom or community use, which is what the license allows and all that it allows.

Asking us to remove something

Write to [email protected] with the subject line Takedown and include:

  • Who you are. Your full name, your email address, and the rights holder you represent if it is not you.
  • The work. A description of the original work, and a link to it if there is one.
  • The exact page. The URL on this site, and enough detail to identify the drawing on it. A page holds dozens of sheets, so name the one you mean.
  • A statement of good faith, saying you believe the use is not authorised by the rights holder, an agent, or the law.
  • A statement of accuracy, saying the information is correct and that you are entitled to act.
  • A signature. Typing your name at the end of the email is enough.

What happens next

You get an answer within seven working days. If the request holds up, the drawing comes off the site and off the file store as soon as it has been looked at, and we say so. If we think there has been a mix-up, we explain why rather than going quiet. Nothing here is worth an argument: a catalogue this size can lose a sheet.

If we removed something by mistake

Send us a counter-notice at the same address: your name and contact details, the address of the page that was removed, a line saying you believe the removal was an error or a misidentification, and your signature. We put it back if you are right.

Requests that are not about copyright

The same address works for anything else that should come down: a privacy concern, a drawing that is wrong or unsuitable for the audience here, or artwork of yours that turned up without permission or credit. Every request gets read by a person.

Please do not send a false notice

Only file a request for work you actually hold rights in. Notices that are false or deliberately misleading carry legal consequences of their own, and they take time away from the ones that are genuine.
