The short version

There are no accounts on this site, so there is no password to lose. You can download every file without giving us your name or email address; the newsletter is optional. We do measure how the pages get used, and this page lists exactly what that involves.

What happens when you download or print a sheet

Clicking Download or Print sends two short records: one to Google Analytics (an event named file_download or print_sheet, with the file name, the sheet and its collection) and one to the private alert channel described below. Neither carries your name, and the PDF itself is not changed in any way.

What we collect

  • Analytics. Google Analytics records aggregate page views, referrers, country and device type, so we know which collections get used. It also records four events: a download, a print, a click on an Amazon link (with the product clicked) and a newsletter sign-up (without the address). Both it and Clarity below set their own cookies to tell one visit from the next; we never attach a name or an address to them.
  • How the pages get used. Microsoft Clarity records the movement of a mouse, the taps, the scrolling and the clicks, and replays them so we can see which drawings people try to print and where a page loses them. It records the page, not you:anything typed into a box is masked before it leaves the browser, and no name or address is attached to a recording.
  • Live alerts. A page view, a download, a print and a click on an Amazon link each send a short message to a private Discord channel that only we read. It carries the page, the sheet or product concerned, the referrer or the source named in the link you followed, the browser and device, the screen and window size, the language and time zone set in your browser, the approximate location (city, region and country, from the network address) and the network address itself. It also carries a random session code, so that the events of one visit can be read together, and the number of pages you have viewed on this browser. Known search engine robots and link previews are filtered out before anything is sent. Nothing in it names you, the channel is not public, and the messages are kept only as long as the channel keeps them.
  • Drawing requests. If you use the form to ask for a drawing we do not have, the text you type goes to the same private channel, with the page you were on, the referrer, the browser, the language, the window size and the approximate location. Please do not put a name or contact details in it: there is no way for us to reply, and the answer is the drawing appearing on the site.
  • Newsletter. If you sign up, we keep your email address to send you new coloring pages, with the page you signed up from and the date. It is stored by our email provider and noted in the same private channel, and it is never sold or shared. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to us to have the address deleted.
  • Server logs. Standard request logs, kept briefly, used for security and debugging.
  • Email. If you write to us, we keep the message so we can answer it.

What stays in your browser

A few things are saved in your own browser storage and are never sent to us as such:

  • Your print pack. The sheets you set aside to print together. When you print or download the pack, the list of those sheets is sent to our server so it can join the PDFs into one file.
  • A page counter, used to tell a first visit from a return visit in the alerts above.
  • A note that the request form has been shown or sent, so the pop-up does not come back.
  • A session code and the source of your visit, kept only until you close the tab.

Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of them, including your print pack.

Turning the tracking off

Open any page of the site with ?notrack at the end of the address (for example coloringcatalog.com/?notrack). Your browser remembers the choice, and from then on Google Analytics, Clarity and the live alerts stay off on that browser. Opening a page with ?track turns them back on. The drawing request form still sends your request, since sending it is the point. Blocking cookies or using a content blocker also works.

What we do not collect

No names, no postal addresses, no payment details, and we never ask children for anything. We do not sell or share data with anyone, because we do not have any worth selling.

Amazon links

Some pages link to products on Amazon. Clicking one records the click as described above and takes you to Amazon, which may set its own cookies to credit the visit. What Amazon does from there is covered by Amazon’s own privacy notice.

Advertising

No ads are shown on the site at the moment. The Google AdSense script is already loaded on the pages, and if ads are switched on, Google and its partners would use cookies to choose which ads you see and to count how often one is shown; what they do with that is covered by Google’s advertising policy, and you can turn personalized ads off for your browser at My Ad Center. This page will be updated before that happens.

Ads will never sit between you and a download, and a printed sheet never carries one.

Children

The site is used by families but is not aimed at children directly, and no account or personal information is ever requested from anyone.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and comparable laws you may ask what we hold about you and ask for it to be deleted. Write to [email protected]; in practice the answer is usually that we hold nothing beyond your email.
