Minnie Mouse, Mickey's sweetheart since 1928
Minnie Mouse first appeared on screen with Mickey Mouse in Steamboat Willie, released by Walt Disney in November 1928. She is Mickey's sweetheart (the two of them picnic, row a boat and roller skate together in the Mickey Mouse coloring pages) and one of Disney's most famous characters, with her own cartoons, the TV series Minnie's Bow-Toons and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, received in 2018.
Walt Disney and animator Ub Iwerks created her alongside Mickey. Over the years her look became iconic: round black ears, a big bow on top of her head, a polka dot dress and oversized shoes. Her bow is her trademark, so much that she hugs a giant one in this collection.
Red Minnie or pink Minnie?
Minnie has two classic outfits, and kids can pick either one:
- Red Minnie: a red bow and dress with white polka dots, and yellow shoes. This is the original look.
- Pink Minnie: a pink bow and dress with white dots, often with pink or white shoes. This is the version from many recent shows.
- Ears, head and arms: black, with a peach or light tan face.
- Gloves: white.
The black areas on these pages are already filled in, so children can focus on the bow, the dress and the scene around her.
That makes Minnie a great character for very young children. With her ears and head already black, the page looks finished after only a few colors, and toddlers get the satisfaction of a bright, recognizable Minnie in a few minutes. Older kids can add patterns to her dress, shade the folds of the skirt or invent a new bow design: stripes, hearts, stars or checks.
Coloring polka dots
The easy way: color the whole dress in red or pink and leave each dot white. The fun way: color every dot a different color for a rainbow Minnie. A fine marker helps around small dots.
Minnie Mouse at home
Many pages show Minnie busy in the house. She pipes frosting on a tall layer cake, bakes heart shaped cookies with a rolling pin nearby, and sews polka dot fabric at her sewing machine, a nod to her Bow-tique shop in the TV series.
Her ballet page puts her on a little round stage between two curtains, standing on one toe in pointe shoes, a favorite with young dancers. She also pours tea for a teddy bear at a little table, arranges roses in a vase and curls up in an armchair with a mug of hot cocoa. Fans of tea parties and cute bears will like the teddy bear coloring pages and the roses coloring pages.
Minnie Mouse outdoors
When the sun is out, Minnie waters daisies, picks apples into a basket under a tree, and rides her bike with a basket full of tulips. She runs a LEMONADE stand, walks a puppy on a leash in the park, and has a picnic on a checkered blanket.
Summer pages show her floating in a polka dot ring in the pool and relaxing on a beach towel with sunglasses. These go well with the summer coloring pages, the flower coloring pages and the dog coloring pages.
A year of Minnie Mouse holidays
Minnie dresses up for the calendar, so a stack of these pages can follow the year month by month.
- October: a pointy witch hat, a jack o'lantern she carves herself, a pumpkin bucket and a candy bag. They sit well beside the Halloween coloring pages.
- December: a Santa coat, a tower of wrapped gifts, a wreath on her front door, a decorated tree for the Christmas coloring pages, a snowman getting its carrot nose and a twirl on the ice in a scarf. More winter fun waits in the snowman coloring pages and the winter coloring pages.
- February: a heart balloon next to a daisy, and heart shaped cookies fresh from the oven.
- Spring: painted eggs in a wicker basket for the Easter coloring pages, tulips in her bike basket and apples ready to pick.
- Birthdays: two cakes crowded with candles, one she lights herself.
Hang a page on the fridge each month, and the year turns into a Minnie calendar.
Minnie Mouse pages for toddlers and for patient colorists
The big face, the giant bow, the balloons and the Santa Minnie have bold shapes and little background. Quick to color puts these simple Minnie pages first:
- Minnie Mouse Big Face
- Minnie Mouse Hugging a Giant Bow
- Minnie Mouse at the Sewing Machine
The apple tree, the flower frame, the rose vase and the Easter basket have more small details. Lots of detail brings them to the top:
- Minnie Mouse Riding a Bike with Tulips
- Minnie Mouse on a Picnic Blanket
- Minnie Mouse in a Flower Frame
Kids who love Minnie's bows and sweet style often enjoy the bow coloring pages, the Hello Kitty coloring pages and the princess coloring pages.
A polka dot party
- Print the birthday cake pages, the giant bow and the lemonade stand.
- Set out red, pink, yellow and black markers.
- Let every guest decide: red Minnie or pink Minnie?
- Cut out a paper bow for each child to decorate and wear.
Serve pink lemonade, like at Minnie's stand, while everyone colors.
For a calmer afternoon, turn the pages into a story. Line up a morning, an afternoon and an evening for Minnie: the picnic and the bike ride, then baking and the tea party, and finally hot cocoa in the armchair and the page where she sits on the moon among the stars. Kids color one part each and tell what happens next, a simple way to practice storytelling while coloring.
Before you print Minnie
Minnie's bow often reaches the top of the sheet. The PDFs are A4 at 300 dpi; a Letter printer keeps the bow whole with fit to page switched on. Planning a party table? Tap Add to pack under each Minnie you want and they arrive as a single download. Where to find these settings in your browser is shown in the printing guide.
