Mario Coloring Pages

A question block hangs over a brick ledge, a Piranha Plant snaps from its pipe, and Mario runs past both. The free Mario coloring pages below cover the whole Mushroom Kingdom, from Luigi and Princess Peach to Yoshi and Bowser, and many of the PDFs are big, thick-lined drawings that a preschooler can finish.

Characters, enemies and power-ups on the sheets:

Who is Mario? Nintendo's hero since 1981

Mario first appeared in the arcade game Donkey Kong in 1981, created by Shigeru Miyamoto at Nintendo. Back then he was a carpenter called Jumpman, climbing girders to rescue a woman from a giant ape. The page of Donkey Kong lifting a barrel on the girders goes back to that very first game.

He became a plumber in the arcade game Mario Bros. (1983), where his brother Luigi joined him, and a star with Super Mario Bros. on the NES in 1985. Dozens of games later, the two films by Illumination brought him to movie theaters: The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023 and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in April 2026.

That long history is why parents and kids often know the same characters, and why a page of Goombas and question blocks makes sense to both.

Mario and Luigi coloring pages: the Mario Bros

The two brothers are drawn to match. Mario runs along a brick ledge past a Piranha Plant with a question block over his head, and Luigi runs along the same kind of ledge with a fire flower on one side and a Piranha Plant on the other. Printed side by side, they make a pair of Mario and Luigi coloring pages for two kids who each claim a brother.

Mario has a few powered-up pages of his own:

• Fire Mario holding up a Fire Flower, a fireball swirling around his hand.
• Raccoon Mario flying with his striped tail and ears out, a super leaf floating above the clouds. The raccoon suit comes from Super Mario Bros. 3.
• Underwater Mario swimming among Cheep Cheep fish, with a Blooper squid, coral and bubbles. The ocean coloring pages have real reef fish to compare.

Luigi gives a thumbs up in his cap and overalls beside a Koopa shell, and runs with both hands raised in the air, which is about as Luigi as a pose gets.

A spot-the-difference game

Put a Mario page and a Luigi page in front of a younger child and ask what changes. The answer is mostly color: red for Mario, green for Luigi, a different letter on the cap. Coloring both is the fastest way to learn which brother is which.

Princess Peach, Rosalina and Toad coloring pages

Princess Peach has several sheets. A close portrait shows her in her crown and jeweled collar with stars around her head, and another has her holding her pendant in front of the castle. She also stands beside Toad, at the castle with its flags (look for the little ghost at one window) and by the castle tower under a floating heart. Toad also waves on his own in his spotted mushroom cap and waistcoat, next to a super mushroom. Kids who like that cap can color real ones in the mushroom coloring pages.

Rosalina and the Super Mario Galaxy pages

Rosalina holds her star wand with a little Luma floating beside her, over a ground of stars. She first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy (2007) on the Wii, where she watches over the Lumas, the small star creatures, and she is back in the 2026 movie. Try a dark blue sky with the stars left white. The space coloring pages keep the galaxy going.

Yoshi, Bowser and the Super Mario enemies

Yoshi runs with a spotted egg under one arm, stands with his saddle and boots beside two eggs, and dashes through a jungle of palms and fruit. In a busier scene he runs with Koopa Troopas and Goombas in front of a haunted house, two Boos floating in the sky. That page fits a Halloween table next to the ghost coloring pages. Bowser, the King of the Koopas, has the dramatic sheets: roaring on a stone platform, standing among flames, spreading his arms on the bridge over the lava, and breathing a jet of fire with his horns and spiked shell filling the page.

The enemies make excellent quick pages, each drawn large on its own: a scowling Goomba with two fangs, a Bullet Bill flying through the clouds, two Koopa Troopas running side by side, a Magikoopa on his broomstick, and Piranha Plants rising out of warp pipes. Wario flexes his arms with a coin over his shoulder and shares a page with Waluigi, and Donkey Kong stands in his DK tie.

Red for Mario, green for Luigi: Super Mario character colors

The palette is fixed, and most kids already know it:

• Mario: a red cap and a red shirt under blue overalls with yellow buttons, plus white gloves and brown shoes.
• Luigi: the same outfit, with green where Mario has red.
• Peach: pink gown, gold crown, blond hair, blue jewels.
• Yoshi: green with a white belly, red saddle and orange boots. His eggs are white with green spots.
• Toad: white cap with red spots and a blue waistcoat.
• Bowser: yellow-orange skin, a green spiked shell and red hair.
• Rosalina: pale blue gown, and a yellow Luma.
• Wario and Waluigi: yellow and purple for Wario, purple and black for Waluigi.

Getting the flat game look

1. Color the light areas first (yellow buttons, skin, coins) and the red, green and black last. A dark color hides a yellow slip, never the other way around.
2. Fill each shape in one direction, then once more at a right angle, so the strokes disappear.
3. Leave the whites of the eyes and the circle on the cap as bare paper.

On a brick wall, color the whole wall in one light brown first, then darken a few bricks here and there. Filling every brick separately takes a long time and looks busier.

Goombas for three-year-olds, kart races for big kids

Plenty of these sheets hold a single enemy or power-up and no background at all, the right size for a three-year-old. A lone Goomba, a Bullet Bill or a fire flower on its block is the sort of page Quick to color gathers:

• A scowling Goomba
• A fire flower on its block
• A Bullet Bill flying through the clouds

Kids who have played the games for years usually want the crowded levels, like Donkey Kong among rolling barrels or Yoshi at the haunted house. Switch on Lots of detail and those packed levels rise to the top:

• Donkey Kong throwing a barrel
• Koopas and Goombas at the haunted house
• Four Toads racing their karts

The question block, mushroom and fire flower lined up over a brick wall is a good first page for a three-year-old learning the power-ups by name.

A Mario Kart birthday party

The Mario Kart coloring page shows four Toads racing their karts down a winding track, banana peels and a shell in the road. It is busy, so give it to the older guests, and the car coloring pages have more race cars for the rest.

1. Tap Add to pack under every character you want.
2. Print one set per guest and let each child pick a racer, as in the game.
3. Staple the leftovers into a small Super Mario coloring book for the party bags.

Coins make a counting game for a preschooler too: count the coins around Wario and Waluigi before coloring each one yellow. For a Christmas card, a child can draw a Santa hat over Mario's cap and use a sheet from the Christmas coloring pages for the inside.

Printing Mario sheets for a game night

Bowser's horns and the tops of the question blocks run close to the edge. The free PDFs are A4 at 300 dpi, so A4 paper prints them at 100 percent, while Letter paper needs fit to page to keep those horns.
