Eevee Coloring Pages

One small brown Pokémon, eight possible futures. Who is Eevee in Pokémon?

Eevee is a small Normal-type Pokémon, number 133 in the Pokédex. Eevee has been around since the very first generation, Pokémon Red and Green, which came out in Japan in 1996. Its name sounds like the letters E-V, as in evolution, and that is the whole point of the character.

No other Pokémon can evolve in so many directions. Eevee has eight evolutions, nicknamed the Eeveelutions by fans, and which one it becomes depends on what happens to it in the game: a stone, a place, the time of day or how much it trusts its trainer.

It is also a star in its own right. In Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! (2018) it is the partner Pokémon who rides on the player's head, while Pikachu takes the shoulder in the other version.

Eevee evolutions coloring pages

Each Eevee evolution has its own sheet, in a setting that matches its type. That is where the colors come from, so the list doubles as a palette:

• Vaporeon (Water) rests in a rock pool. Light blue body, a cream frill around the neck, darker blue fins.
• Jolteon (Electric) stands on a grassy hilltop with its fur spiked. Bright yellow with a white spiky collar.
• Flareon (Fire) sits behind a campfire ringed with stones. Red-orange, with a cream ruff, tail and tuft on its head.
• Espeon (Psychic) sits on a stone balcony rail under a full moon. Pale lilac, with a small red gem on its forehead.
• Umbreon (Dark) walks under a crescent moon. Black, with yellow rings on its ears, legs and tail, and red eyes.
• Leafeon (Grass) naps along a tree branch. Cream body, green leaf-shaped ears and tail.
• Glaceon (Ice) stands on a frozen pond in falling snow. Pale blue with darker blue diamond markings.
• Sylveon (Fairy) stands under a flowered arch. White and pink, with pink and blue bows and long ribbon feelers.

In which game each one arrived

The first three came with Eevee in 1996. Espeon and Umbreon joined in the second generation (Gold and Silver), Leafeon and Glaceon in the fourth (Diamond and Pearl), and Sylveon in the sixth (X and Y). A child who has played only the newer games may know Sylveon better than Vaporeon.

An Eeveelution matching game

Print every Eeveelution sheet and cover the names. Then ask which one lives by the water, which one sits by the fire, which one only comes out at night. Most children who know the games get them all, and the ones who do not learn the types along the way.

The family page puts Eevee between Flareon, Vaporeon, Glaceon and Umbreon. It is the sheet to print first for a child who cannot choose a favorite.

Eevee's brown and cream, pencil by pencil

Eevee itself needs only three or four pencils:

• Body, head and ears: a warm mid brown.
• Ear tips: a darker brown.
• Collar of fur and tail tip: pale cream.
• Eyes: dark brown with a white shine left bare.

Color the cream collar first, a little past its line, then the brown up to it. The brown covers the overlap and no white gap appears where the two meet.

Tips for the trickier Eeveelutions

• Umbreon: use a very dark gray or navy instead of pressing black hard. The outline stays visible, and the yellow rings, colored last, look brighter against it.
• Jolteon: short strokes that follow each spike of fur.
• Sylveon: decide which ribbons are pink and which are blue before starting, or they end up all one color.
• Glaceon: make the diamonds two shades darker than the body rather than a new color.

Cozy Eevee coloring pages for every season

Half the fun of this set is how many places Eevee finds to sleep. It curls up in a deep pile of maple leaves, in a woven basket lined with a plaid blanket, on a stack of folded blankets with a sock over one ear, on an open book under a desk lamp. Awake, it sits on a window seat watching snow fall, gets tangled in yarn under a rocking chair and warms up in front of a lit fireplace with a mug on the mantel.

Pikachu and Eevee are the two Pokémon children most often want side by side, yellow next to brown.
